NOBLESSE MAGAZINE

SHANGHAI CHINA- This month I did an article for NOBLESSE Magazine. My article as a fashion advisor for the magazine was based on the "military trend". I know most of my readers cannot read Chinese so here is the 2nd half interview section translated into english!

Ÿ Which is the hottest military style item this year? What do you suggest to pair it with to update the look in this season?

BV: The hottest military item this year is the military style jacket. I suggest you wear this item with a pair of clean skinny jeans and solid button down top or tshirt slightly tucked into the jeans. Pair the entire outfit with a pair of harness or flat lace up boots to complete your military look.

Ÿ We can see military style on runway show almost every year, it becomes one of the most popular style these years, Is there any changed of details on military design in 2011?(inspire on design, for example on fabric types and some other details).

BV: Although the military style has now become a style staple season after season there are some changes to 2011 that make this look even more exciting. Some of the stand out changes have been designers using different fabrics and adding applications to military jackets. For example adding structured shoulders with fringe details (like Balmain) or replacing black buttons to gold rounded buttons with a small symbol or crest on them. Also for 2011 it's very popular to put a black belt around your entire look.

Ÿ Obviously, olive green or better known as military green is known as the typical color when it comes to military style design, is there any new color we can find in this season or perhaps the fall winter season 2011/2012?

BV: This is totally correct, most military jackets are army green. However this year we've seen designers expanding to RED and gray military jackets! The red military look is best when paired with black leggings & accents. Or with darker jeans.

Ÿ Military Style vs. Rock Style, sometimes the design of this two styles kind of blend into each other, what’s your view on this?

BV: I wouldn't necessary say that the two styles blend, I think that they're commonly put in the same category when really there are small details that make them completely different. For example a biker jacket would only be considered rock style not the military look. Also studs... pointed studs are rock where as rounded studs are more military. Then there is a happy medium where cool lace up boots are both rock and military!!
