SHANGHAI, CHINA- This season Camel is the new black. Every designer under the sun produced a camel coat but Derek Lam by far executed this trend the best. It's simple black leather sleeves was a unique touch. Maryna Linchuk wore it in the Fall ad campaign and it was the 1st look down the runway worn by model Freja Beha Erichsen.

Snow. Fall.

TOP:
Sweater- Yigal Azrouel, $770

SHANGHAI, CHINA- It normally doesn't snow in Shanghai, but when it does on days like today I generally enjoy lounging around in my most comfy clothes and catching up on all the latest fashion magazines!
Above I'm wearing the patchwork sweater from Yigal Azrouels F/W10 season. When I saw It come down the runway at his show in February, I knew I had to have it! He also made a blanket cardigan in the same patchwork fabrication. Since I own so many flow type pieces I opted for a more unique oversized sweater.

a n o n y m o u s CITY

Anonymous company- 10,000RMB

SHANGHAI, CHINA- I absolutely love the work of Emma Rytoft. A Swedish artist working as an architect in Shanghai. She believes her work is a reflection on the anonymity of city life...
A reaction to a polish on the surface of everything that disguises and flattens, smooths and conceals.

A blanket of global commercialism is spreading fast, eradicating identities, converting and abstracting life into patterns and colors. City and citizens are merging into an indistinguishable mass.

Erasing the need for direct human contact, the city wraps us up in a colorful bustling blanket and lulls us into a false sense of security and belonging.

Surrounded at all times by anonymous life and unfocused energy we loose ourselves in the struggle to find meaning and recognition. In an attempt to allow our identities to resurface, we play along.

The continuous movement and energy of the citizens interacts with the inherent static state of the physical manifestation of the city to create a tangible friction. Moods, time and temperatures establish and govern the relationships between city and citizen much like those between humans.

The fickle force of the city supports and encourages, traps and threatens, bashes and sometimes even defeats. It leave us struggling, wondering, and searching for an escape, for something to propel us out of the suffocating mass that is keeping us firmly anchored to the ground.

In the dark of the night...

ABOVE:
Leather Jacket, Alma Aguilar, (almaaguilar.com for pricing information); Dress, $46, Twelve by Twelve;  Chanel Purse, $425, Resurrection

LONDON, UK- This evening I wore one of my favorite jackets to one of my favorite restaurants, Sake No Hama.
Spanish designer Alma Aguilar has been growing her collection in the last couple of years and has recently got some great press with a store in the Salamanca district of  Madrid. She comes from a creative back round with her father a jazz player and her mother a painter. The small shoulder details she creates in this jacket are what makes it stand out to me!
